Once, when the New York Philharmonic conductor Leonard Bernstein was asked, what is the instrument in the orchestra the game more difficult, he replied: "second fiddle". How difficult it must be to always play in the shadow of the concert master! Silas was second fiddle to Paul throughout the second and third missionary journey journeys of the Apostle.

Silas is a mysterious figure biblical. E 'was suspended for the leaders of Jerusalem, appointed to accompany him back to Paul and BarnabasAntioch after the conference on female circumcision. Luke (the author of Acts), says he's a prophet, and on arrival at Antioch, said, "too, and encourage the brethren" (Acts 15:32).

In Acts 16 to 18, Silas is an important character in the play, with Paul on his second missionary journey, left Macedonia, the spiritual child Paul was forced to leave too early for promotion. Later, Silas mysteriously slipped out of sight. Luke mentions him again in Acts;even the letters of Paul to the early years of life.

Silas has to serve behind the scene, where they held a big difference. He only appears once said, when Peter, "With the help of Silvanus, which I regard as a faithful brother, I wrote ..." (1 Peter 5:12). Some scientists believe that it is Silas, who first gave Peter the eloquent language. Secondly, Peter has the rough grammar and formulations that are more what we expect from an untrained fishermenlike Simon Peter.

What would be the man without that Paul Silas have achieved? If all of his "concerts" are so beautiful, or not have occurred even at all? It's hard to say. Since Silas was willing to second fiddle, its harmony counterpoint melodies better than Paul, the creation of a full-length duet to the glory of God to play. God, give us more men and women, with humility and dedication of Silas!
